Reiki (ray-key) is a gentle but powerful holistic energy healing system that works on all levels of mind, body, and spirit. The name Reiki comes from the Japanese words "rei" which means spirit, and "ki" which means energy. It is generally translated as "Universal Life Force Energy". Reiki energy is the Healing Energy of the Universe.
Life Force Energy exists in our bodies and moves through our aura or energy field, the chakras or energy centers, and the pathways called meridians. When the energy becomes blocked or disrupted in any of these areas, it can result in illness. Likewise, the major organs of the body can be affected when there are blockages or imbalances in the energy flow. When Reiki is allowed to flow freely through the organs and tissues, it opens blocked passages, reactivates energy centers and gives balance to the Ki of the entire body, restoring health and wholeness. Reiki enhances the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki can be used for all types of illnesses, injuries and emotional problems. Reiki can accelerate the healing process of animals, ease pain, and improve or help to continue their quality of life.
Reiki is comforting for all animals in distress as it revitalizes and reassures the animal, can be given without interfering with other treatment, or posing any threat to the animal's health.
Reiki is very successful with animals as they are far more in tune with themselves and their environment than people, and are highly receptive to energy work. Giving Reiki Therapy enhances the relationship between human and animal.
Animals are comforted with Reiki energy. No one really knows exactly what an animal experiences during a Reiki session, but something in them seems to let go and relax. They normally become very still and seem to sense that something very special is taking place and gratefully take the energy in.
Cats, dogs, birds, goats, cows, horses, pigs, hamsters, guinea pigs, snakes, reptiles, ferrets, fish, lama, elephants, tigers, ponies, raccoons, and dolphins are just a few types of animals that benefit from Reiki.
Animal Reiki Therapy is not a substitute for professional veterinary treatment. It is a non-medical therapy that complements and supports all other healing therapies, including veterinary medicine, and is a valuable component of an integrative approach to healing and health maintance.
